After graduating from Bucknell University in 1974, Sally set out to explore the beautiful Rocky Mountains. She found herself in Telluride, a historic Victorian town nestled in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado. Telluride captivated her from the very beginning, and she has made this community her home for over 45 years.
Sally has devoted herself to Telluride through the years, actively engaging in community events and participating at the local level. She proudly served as President of the Telluride Association of Realtors 1998, Realtor of the Year 1996/2006, President of the Telluride Alpine Race Team, member of the Board of Directors for the Bank of Telluride, Board of Directors of the Telluride Wine Festival, member of the Board and Board of Trustees for the Chorale Society, member of the Telluride Business Task Force, co-chair and originator of the Katrina Relief Fundraiser, and member of the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees for the One to One youth mentorship program.
Sally is currently a member of Telluride Women Give, and continues her long-term involvement with The Strokes of Genius program, which is the longest running local program granting scholarships for higher education to Telluride graduates. In 2018, she became involved with the Telluride Science Research Center, the largest independent molecular center in the world. When she came to understand the global impact of TSRC and how they are able to export science from our tiny town to points all around the globe, it gave her goosebumps. She is now a TSRC Board Member and is spearheading local efforts to purchase a permanent home for TSRC at the Telluride Depot, a project that will permanently secure the Depot as a community asset and will provide a year-round facility for TSRC. The purchase of the Depot property is expected to occur on April 2nd, 2020.
The Town of Telluride is steeped in art, history, and culture. Sally strongly believes in supporting our local artists and musicians, and proudly takes every chance to do so. Whether it is through the activities of the Ah Haa School, the summer festivals, or supporting local theatre troupes, she truly has enjoyed her involvement with the arts community over the years.
She also recognizes the importance of giving back to the community that has cared for her family and friends over the years. She is a proud mother of one son who graduated from Duke University as well as from the Goizueta Business School at Emory (2013). Her son Tyler now lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife Shannon, their daughter, Sloane Elizabeth and son, Patrick Owen. Tyler is working in commercial real estate as a Senior Vice President for Cushman and Wakefield.
She enjoys traveling, skiing, sailing, fishing, and her favorite is to sip a incredible Bordeaux on her patio with her wonderful husband Jim. That’s right; on July 3rd 2014 Sally Puff Courtney got married to a Kentucky gentleman and a fellow Bucknellian.
Whether you choose Telluride as your home or next vacation retreat, Sally looks forward to working with you. Please allow her 40+ years of real estate experience in the Telluride region to guide you.
